Being Independent in University and Life



Welcome back blog family. 
It's your Grandad AO and The Growth Never Stops. 

 EVERYBODY NEEDS INDEPENDENCE, especially people going to university. University most definitely teaches people independence by throwing them in the deep-end. Forcing us students to cook and learn how to fend for ourselves. Even force ourselves to go into our most hated lectures at 9AM!

 But with saying that, you can easily be a university student and not be independent. 

 We all need to understand that IT IS ONLY US ON OUR JOURNEY'S in life. I'm not saying that we are all alone in this walk of lives or that we don't have people there for us such as friends and family. What I am saying is we are the only ones who go through exactly what we go through when we go through it. WE are the only one who decide where we go on this journey with our actions. I don't believe anyone's purpose on this earth is to be a follower, yes some people are here to help others but that is not the same as following others.  In university our friends will be on different modules and courses, does that mean that we wont go class because they are not going to be there? 

 Now even though it is our own unique journey, it is very easy to be a follower when we do not KNOW OURSELVES. I say this because when we do not KNOW OURSELVES, it is very easy to be influenced consciously or unconsciously. We cant be doing things that we don't actually enjoy doing that because of other people who you like, enjoy doing those things. Especially when you know that thing isn't good for you in the slightest. 

 WE NEED TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS. If we don't make our own decisions for ourselves then other people who do not have our best interest in mind will end up making those decisions for ourselves. For example in university when your friends say that they don't want to go library for whatever their reason may be but you want to go to maker progress on your assignment, are you going change your mind and not go because your friend said that they are not going? It's not even that these people don't like us, but they are simply doing what we should be doing too...

 PUTTING OURSELVES FIRST. I have already already told you about being your star player so everyone should know why it's so important. In relation to being independent, if we our putting ourselves first then you need to make your own decisions which are going to better you. These decisions you are making for yourself are highly likely going to better you because if it wasn't going to better you, why would you decide to participate in that in the first place.

  BEING LOW MAINTENANCE AT UNIVERSITY -  MY EXPERIENCE IT'S NOT THAT I DON'T LIKE YOU, IT'S JUST THAT I DON'T NEED TO TALK TO YOU. When you are low maintenance surrounded by so many people who used to the norm of everyone being high maintenance, a lot of people will think that you don't like them because you don't message them. Especially at university, everybody is making new friends and trying to create new bonds, and I understand that but to me, I do not see the point of messaging you when there is nothing important to talk about. In university we are going to see each other every couple of days anyway, so what is the point?  Some people may say that we have communication issues and maybe there's truth to that. I can personally go months, maybe a year without talking to some of my closest friends. Of course, there will be the exchange of birthday messages but that could easily be it.
